Unnecessary Usage

Wastescapes by Clair Robins 2018

This body of work (still in progress) aims to challenge our perception of the ‘over consumption of plastic’ by myself and others. We are quite obsessed with recycling yet the world is still wrapped in plastic pollution. The images reinterpret packaging, reflect on consumerism and reveal evidence me and manufacturers that are still not doing enough. The content of these images will remain toxic for over 700 years. My work is likely to bleed into the environment and contaminate it even if I 'recycle' it. Aesthetically these works intend to seduce you by their simplicity and yet they are a stark reminder of the continual harm I and others are responsible for.
