Blending Reality
Meaningful landscapes, compelling portraits and fortuitous observations create an emotive narrative in this collection of images. The works neatly encapsulate moments, memories, and spontaneous compositions from the present and to the no so distant past. Blending reality is visual diary of shots that preserve family, daily life and seemingly normal street scenarios. Robins has presented her printed digital images carefully enveloped in fragile tissue negative sleeves to protect the stories, thus archiving extracts of her life. By becoming printed works there lies a permanence with the images, a family album reimagined. Equally an intangible divergence from the moments has been created by her choices, and selection of compositions.
The viewers encounter with the imagery may cause conflict of meaning, why is the image so relevant with the artist? By exhibiting her personal recollections and displaying this body of work she encourages conversation and aims to strike a connection with the immediate world around us.
Evidence and small traces of our existence come together connecting magical moments of our brief journey in this world, blending reality a fluid visual dialogue of truths, moments and mystery.
Delighted that an image from this collection forms part of Float Magazine More/Less on-line exhibition & a fantastic published zine curated by Float Mag. In addition the work has been included in:
