Dogs and their beloved owners - Robins set up a blank canvas backdrop in a local park in Leicester, inviting passing dog walkers to have their portraits taken with their beloved pets. The spontaneous shoot offered insights into the shared passions and strong sense of community among dog owners.
The resulting photographs beautifully convey the personal bond and unique relationship between each person and their loyal companion. Some dogs posed obediently, while others were far more excitable about their moment in front of the camera, bringing plenty of amusement to the session.
From this brief encounter, it becomes clear how deeply a pet dog can enrich human life, offering unconditional love, comfort, and a welcome escape from the pressures of modern living. Conversations during the shoot revealed how dog walking brings a wealth of benefits: social connection, structure, companionship, and the simple joy of being outdoors in nature.
Photography has the power to capture the essence of everyday life, yet it also raises questions about what is “truth” and what is “real.” In an age saturated with digitally enhanced and AI-generated imagery, we are constantly challenged to discern authenticity.
Robins’ poignant portraits offer a refreshing sense of honesty, a heartwarming study of contemporary life that reflects a small but meaningful glimpse of humanity and the world around us.
The work has been exhibited at Chester Photography Festival and at Leicester Adult Ed, as part of the Doc8 media show.
